The NRA Basic Personal Protection Inside the Home course incorporates home defense tactics and is designed to introduce you to the basics of how to properly protect yourself and your loved ones when encountered with a threat in or around your home. During this course you will learn and apply proactive planning considerations and the essential skills needed to defend your home. This course is conducted in your own home setting, to apply practical application in your own home.
Topics covered:
- Home defense planning
- Types of threats
- Room clearing and recovery (lecture and practical application)
- Equipment selection and security products
- Safety concerns
- Defensive weapons characteristics/Ammunition considerations
- Target Identification and Threat Engagement
- Finding and creating safe zones in your home
Participants: 5 in group at a time (Under 21 must be accompanied by parent or guardian present)
Duration: 8 hours (consists of in-home practical lesson and scenario situations and live-fire range time)
Required Gear: N/A
Recommended Gear: Pen and Paper
Skill Prerequisites: N/A
*No personal firearms are needed for this course. The practical portion of this course will take place within your own home. Firearms will only be needed in demostration and at live-fire range portion.

Our REGISTRATION FORM must be printed and turned in at check-in of course, and presented with a valid state drivers license.
All course reservations are held with a $25 non-refundable registration deposit. Deposits are paid online below. (A 10% discount is available for first responders (fire fighter, EMT), active, former or retired military personnel and immediate family members of law enforcement officers.)
Course fee includes: course material handouts, live-fire range time for the shooting qualification and a course completion certification.
*Mississippi Permit application fees are separate and are paid directly to the licensing authority that will issue your permit.*
